Our true passion is in the initial process of purchasing land from its owner. We love getting to know you, hearing the story of the land, and working with you every step of the way.

My dad sold cars for a living, but he told me I should think about becoming an engineer. It sounded interesting to me, and I wanted to learn. So I went to Old Dominion and earned a Civil Engineering degree. Soon afterwards, I began an internship with a large general contractor, and in the meantime, to pay off my student loans, I started looking on Craigslist for motorcycles to flip. Being from a military town, there were plenty of motorcycles that needed just a little work to put them back into service, and it wasn’t long before my degree was paid in full. My time on Craigslist steered me to another path—land.
My first business deal was sealed with a bow. As a kid growing up in Virginia Beach with Christmas right around the corner, my buddy and I stood outside underneath our old treehouse talking about how we were strapped for cash when the idea hit us. Looking up, we noticed balls of mistletoe growing up above. So we climbed the branches of our old faithful tree, stripping it of its festive twigs. We divided up those clumps of mistletoe and placed them in plastic bags—each tied with a red ribbon. My mom dropped us off from one neighborhood to the next and we sold our bounty door-to-door. And just like that, my days of entrepreneurship took off. Later with motorcycles, then with land. As nerdy as it sounds, learning is my hobby. From flora and fauna to anything with an engine and the dusty roads and farmland they take you to—I want to know all about it.
And that was the seed that started Williamson Development Group.
With over 17 years in the development and construction business, I’ve worked with land, built homes, and even facilitated in the construction of the second tallest air traffic control tower in the country. In 2015, I built on that foundation to create Williamson Development Group. We’re down to earth people, as you should be in the business of development, and we’re passionate about the process of purchasing land from the owner. We like to meet you where you’re at, learn the story of the land, and shake hands before we sign papers. For many people, making the decision to sell generational land can feel overwhelming. For others, it feels like a load lifted off the shoulders of a farmer looking to retire. No matter what type of land you have, the acreage, or what its story is, we’re dedicated to working with you every step of the way.
